Fitness Myths Debunked #7 of 15

MYTH: Weight training is just for your muscles.

TRUTH: Weight training does help your muscles but also helps relieve stress, develops strong bones, manage your weight and also manage some chronic conditions!

So, tonight when your coach at your Synergy fitness studio tells you to do lots of reps and sets with those weights that you thought maybe you would avoid picking up – thank them!

Weight training helps you with all these things:

Relieve Stress – Med ball slams are a great stress relief in more ways then you thought. The natural endorphin production, the physical benefits, the sense of accomplishment…these are all byproducts and have a lasting, positive effect on our mental and emotional state.

Develop strong bones – By stressing your bones, strength training can increase bone density and reduce the risk of osteoporosis!

Manage your weight – Strength training can help you manage or lose weight, and it can increase your metabolism to help you burn more calories.

Manage chronic conditions – Strength training can reduce the signs and symptoms of many chronic conditions, such as arthritis, back pain, obesity, heart disease and diabetes.
