Deadlifts are a great exercise to build lower body strength and muscle. Primarily the muscles of the posterior chain, glutes, calves, hamstrings included.
I use a band to help break the tension from the the floor and over load the lockout. Next are snatch grip deadlifts followed by Bulgarian splits squats (explosive, heavy, and isometric).
