Run Faster: Two Exercises for Max Speed Training

The rooster drill has been used for decades to teach athletes how to run faster.

I recall using it while playing college football every winter during our speed training. This speed exercise is a great way to train the brain and pattern movement.

Sometimes it takes isolating certain parts of the body to learn how to run faster.

Make sure the toes are pulled up, the leg is not extended and you strike the ground with force direclty under your center of gravity. Slide your foot back like you are trying to get gum off the bottom of your shoe.
